Backstreet Cultural Museum
Officially opening its doors in 1999, the Backstreet Cultural Museum and its origins can be traced back three decades. It was founded by Sylvester Francis and is located in the Tremé neighborhood of New Orleans.
Gallier House
As a restored and historic 19th-century house museum based in the lively French Quarter of New Orleans, Gallier House was once the home of famous architect, James Gallier Jr in 1860. Take the family for a visit and educate yourselves about New Orleans interesting culture and history.
Preservation Hall
Preservation Hall is home to intimate, acoustic New Orleans Jazz concerts almost every night of the year featuring ensembles from local master practitioners. Enjoy live music almost any night of the week.
Banksy’s Rain Girl
World-famous for various art masterpieces around the globe – Banksy still remains a mystery to many. Nola by Banksy is known locally as Rain Girl or Umbrella Girl. It features a little New Orleanian girl holding an umbrella and refers to the devastating flood that was caused by hurricane Katrina in 2005.
The AllWays Lounge and Theater
Peep shows, swing dancing, burlesque and cabarets, oh my! The AllWays Lounge and Theatre is great for watching a show and enjoying some five-star entertainment while visiting New Orleans.
WWII Museum
Rated one of the ten best museums in the world on TripAdvisor and formerly known as The National D-Day Museum, the WWII Museum is one of the most popular attractions in New Orleans. There are exhibits, events, museum tours and more to participate in while you are there. It’s a must-do and a fantastic educational option for the entire family when in New Orleans.
Swamp Tours
There are plenty of swamp adventures and tours that visitors can experience when in New Orleans. There is a kayak swamp tour where you can enjoy a full day exploring the Bayou and the Louisiana wetlands. There is also an airboat tour where you can fly through the Louisiana swamps and the Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary. And, let us not forget the Honey Island Swamp Tour where you can glide through alligator territory on a glass-bottom boat and learn all about swamp life from the experts.
Walking Tours
Whether you want to explore the vibrant French Quarter and stop by the St. Louise Cemetery, or if you want to take the Garden District Tour and the spooky New Orleans Ghost Tour – there is a free walking tour for everyone to enjoy when visiting this lively city. There are a variety of tours to take, you just need to figure out which areas you want to explore first!
Rent a Bike
If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of driving around the city, you can rent a bike with The American Bicycle Rental Company and explore at your own pace. There are also fun companies such as Blue Bikes, which is a cool ride sharing program, or jazzy light up bikes to rent at Art District Bike Rentals.
